On 2 and 5 March 2026, the Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) and the Université Rose Dieng France–Senegal (URD/FS) held two institutional meetings aimed at strengthening their cooperation in research, scientific training and innovation. These exchanges build on an already active dynamic, underpinned by ongoing joint initiatives.
Two meetings to lay the groundwork for a structural collaboration
On 2 March 2026, a URD/FS delegation led by Dr François Loret, Director of Research and Innovation, visited several IPD laboratories and platforms to meet scientific and technical teams. This operational visit identified concrete synergies between the two institutions.
On 5 March 2026, IPD Director General Dr Ibrahima Socé Fall received Professor Mamadou Sarr, Director General of URD/FS, to deepen collaboration prospects. Discussions focused on the need to bring science closer to social realities, so that research and innovation can contribute more effectively to public policies and sustainable development.
Strengthened institutional ties
This partnership benefits from a strong institutional anchor: Dr Ibrahima Socé Fall has recently been appointed President of the Scientific and Academic Council (CSA) of URD/FS, reinforcing governance links between the two institutions and facilitating the coordination of joint initiatives.
A first joint programme already underway
The collaboration is already translating into action through the bioproduction certification programme, jointly developed by URD/FS, IPD and the Mastercard Foundation. This programme demonstrates the ability of both institutions to transform a scientific partnership into tangible results for health professionals and Africa’s biotechnology industries.
Through this strategic partnership, the Institut Pasteur de Dakar continues its commitment to advancing research, quality scientific training and innovation in service of Africa.
