As part of our efforts to strengthen #PublicHealth in West Africa, the Institut Pasteur de Dakar is delighted to host this week the workshop on the West African Regional Laboratory Initiative [WARIL]. The main objective of #WARIL is to enhance laboratory systems in the region through three key areas of work:
- Strengthening the capacity of national reference laboratories to manage quality assurance programs
- Expansion of syndromic surveillance of febrile diseases
- Promotion of data sharing policies and platforms
With the participation of representatives from 16 West African countries and our partners The Global Fund, ECOWAS CEDEAO, WAHOOAS, Africa CDC, World Health Organization, Office of the Assistant Regional director – WHO AFRO, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the overall objectives of the WARIL workshop include aligning national stakeholders, exploring synergies with other initiatives, and clarifying the roles of network members.
