From February 10 to 12, 2025, the Institut Pasteur de Dakar performed a training session on Whole Genome Sequencing by Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT).

Funded by the UK Government Investments (UKGI) (hashtag#FlemingFund) and coordinated by the DTU – Technical University of Denmark, hashtag#SeqAfrica aims to develop and support Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) and enhance bioinformatics capacities for more effective AMR surveillance across Africa: sequenced by Africans for Africans.
Sentinel site staff participated in this key training, further strengthening their skills to combat this major public health threat.

AMR poses a significant threat to global public health, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, where the incidence reaches 27.3 deaths per 100,000 people per year.
