The second and final day of the ๐’๐œ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ ๐’๐ฒ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ, ๐ก๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐›๐ฒ ๐ˆ๐ฌ๐ก๐š ๐๐‰๐€๐ˆ, ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ ๐จ๐Ÿ Center for Africaโ€™s Resilience to Epidemics (CARE), Institut Pasteur de Dakar, marked the Centennial Week’s scientific discussions.

The day featured four illuminating keynote presentations and two engaging panel discussions:

โ€ข ๐Š๐ž๐ฒ๐ง๐จ๐ญ๐ž ๐Ÿ: Prof. Marco Vignuzzi (A*STAR Infectious Disease Labs) presented โ€œInnovative Strategies for the Discovery of Antiviral Drugs: Tackling Emerging RNA Viruses.โ€

โ€ข ๐Š๐ž๐ฒ๐ง๐จ๐ญ๐ž ๐Ÿ: Prof. Clarke Ed (MRC Gambia at LSHTM) explored โ€œInnovations in Vaccine Delivery in LMICs,โ€ highlighting Africa’s groundbreaking contributions to global health.

โ€ข ๐Š๐ž๐ฒ๐ง๐จ๐ญ๐ž ๐Ÿ‘: Prof. Rino Rappuoli (Biotecnopolo di Siena) delivered insights on โ€œRevolutionizing Vaccine Development: The Power of Reverse Vaccinology.โ€

โ€ข ๐Š๐ž๐ฒ๐ง๐จ๐ญ๐ž ๐Ÿ’: Dr. Carlos Costantini (IRD, University of Montpellier) shared his expertise on entomology’s critical role in global health and the fascinating success stories in this field.
The second part of the symposium featured a morning roundtable, in which Dr. Xavier BERTHET (Symposium Organizer and Director of Biomedical Research, Education, and Innovation at the IPD) moderated โ€œ๐€๐œ๐œ๐ž๐ฅ๐ž๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐‚๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ฆ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ: ๐ˆ๐ง๐ง๐จ๐ฏ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐€๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐š๐œ๐ก๐ž๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐›๐š๐ญ ๐„๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ๐ ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐†๐ฅ๐จ๐›๐š๐ฅ ๐“๐ก๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ฌ.โ€ This panel included IPD experts Dr. Cheikh Tidiane Diagne, Dr. Sรจne Marie-Angรฉliqueรจne, Dr. Yakhya Dieye, and Dr. Laty gaye Thiam.

Our closing panel, moderated by Dr. Rebecca Grais (Executive Director, Pasteur Network), โ€œEmpowering Communities: Shaping Prevention and Policy for Future Pandemics,โ€ featured Professor Heidi Larson, Dr. Karell Pellรฉ Pelle, Dr. Boubacarr Diallo, and Dr. Bamba Gaye.

Looking ahead, tomorrowโ€™s forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Health promises new discoveries, showcasing initiatives that are reshaping and revolutionizing the healthcare landscape, especially in Africa.
