On Thursday, May 15, 2025, a delegation from the Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD), led by its General Administrator, Dr. Amadou Alpha SALL, was received at the Ministry of Health and Social Action (MSAS) for an important working session chaired by the Minister, Dr. Ibrahima Sy.
This meeting provided the opportunity for IPD to present its strategic pillars, its mission, its vision, and its flagship activities, reaffirming its role as a leading public health institution in Senegal and across the African continent.
Alongside the Minister, several technical and institutional bodies of the MSAS took part in the discussions, including the Chief of Staff, the Director General of Health, technical advisors, the Director of Laboratories, the Directorate of Prevention, the National Pharmacy Supply Agency (SEN-Pharmacie Nationale d’Approvisionnement), the Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (ARP Senegal), Relance Pharma Sénégal, and other ministry representatives. The IPD delegation included members of its Executive Committee.
In his speech, the Minister emphasized the stakes of the new strategic framework for health governance in Senegal, highlighting:
- The importance of strengthening communication and coordination between the two institutions to foster optimal synergy in the service of public health;
- The need for better sharing of administrative procedures.
As a reminder, since 2009, the Institut Pasteur de Dakar has been a Senegalese private, non-profit public utility foundation, under the technical supervision of the MSAS. Three Senegalese ministries sit on its Board of Trustees, underscoring its strong institutional anchorage in national public health policies.
