From April 17th to 19th, 2024, the Institut Pasteur de Dakar had the privilege of hosting the Health System Strengthening Workshop. This event, organized in a collaborative and inclusive approach, aimed to conduct a diagnostic of health policies and strategies in Senegal and the sub-region, with the goal of developing relevant and impactful strategic orientations.
The main objectives of this workshop were manifold:
- Analyze the organization of health system strengthening, considering the specificities of the Institut Pasteur de Dakar.
- Identify the strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities of public health interventions.
- Formulate strategic orientations and recommendations based on factual data to guide the development of the five-year Health System Strengthening strategy (2024-2028) of the Public Health Directorate.
This workshop brought together around thirty participants from various entities, including the Ministry of Health and Social Action, the WHO country office, health service providers, research institutes, Technical and Financial Partners, as well as civil society organizations involved in Primary Health Care and community interventions, who were invited to contribute to this collective reflection, thus demonstrating the importance and diversity of stakeholders mobilized to address public health challenges in Senegal and the region.
