On 26 February 2026, the Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) welcomed a delegation from the National Agency for Applied Scientific Research (ANRSA), led by its Director General, Dr Lamine Sanรฉ. This meeting marks an important step in building a more integrated national research ecosystem in service of Senegal’s development.

Building a lasting cooperation framework

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase IPD’s expertise, strategic projects and impact in public health, while exploring the foundations of a structural partnership between the two institutions. Discussions focused on enhancing the value of research, accelerating technology transfer and supporting scientific innovation in Senegal and internationally.

The exchanges pave the way for the formalisation of a strengthened cooperation framework, notably through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) facilitating joint programmes, the dissemination of research outputs and the development of human and institutional capacities.

Bringing science closer to society

At the heart of this initiative is a shared ambition: to ensure that scientific innovations and research outputs contribute more effectively to public policies and sustainable development. For IPD โ€” a century-old institution operating at the interface of research, diagnostics and emergency health response โ€” this ambition is integral to its identity.

This partnership with ANRSA represents an opportunity to strengthen synergies between national research actors, eliminate institutional duplication and create concrete bridges between scientific production and its application for the benefit of populations.
